This video is like Swiss cheese with the logic. For example it reads "The lack of raw materials and farmland at home to supply her economy and feed her people" is the reason why Japan decided to invade Korea… even though Korea also lacks raw materials and farmland. Even if that was the case wouldn't have Japan needed to invade Korea and make it a vasel state not only once in the 1930s but repeatedly throughout history? I live in Japan and it is widely advertised that despite large imports of say French Wine and Avocados from Mexico, Japan produces more than enough rice to feed all its people..Reallifelore is very keen to mention the percentage of arable land of Japan (low) Britain and Germany (yay, hIgher!) …. but not the YIELDS… and within the flat plains in Japan there are super productive arable plains with large flowing rivers that flow directly from the mountains and thus can produce several harvest a year… generally two throughout most of Japan (which doubles its crop productivity to at least that of Britain). In addition, the main crop is RICE and not WHEAT as it is in Europe, rice has twice the caloric content of wheat and thus relates to how Japan is able to have a larger population than both Britain and Germany (twice that of Britain makes sense then). You see how your analysis overall does not compute. This is just mentioning rice. Soo…. Japan didn't have to invade Korea due to farmland, instead the modern mechanization technology of the 1930's and its military build up required raw materials (such as oil and rubber) which Japan could only obtain through Empire. Korea thus served as a natural bridge into the oil in Manchuria that was able to supply ships and aircraft carriers to obtain resources like rubber and iron in Indonesia etc. Empire is always a lack of some kind of power source and its quest is the aim regardless of the conditions at home. For example Saudi Arabia could have all the oil in the world but could not build and Empire because Empire requires all resources and geography that can be strategically gained as the quest for power begets more power. So as soon as Japan ended its isolation policy and decided on Empire, the strategic starting point would have to be Korea even though Korea also lacks raw materials and farmland.
2011 earthquake, was living in Virginia and an earthquake struck months after was a decent one too, lasted a good 10 sec and died down. The aftershocks were the worst. Thinking it'll come back.

This lack of natural resources is why Japan tried to create a "Manifest Destiny" back in WW2 days, just like America did in the 1800's. They wanted to annex all those Polynesian islands which had been colonized by European countries: French Polynesia, Dutch East Indies etc. But the USA put the kibosh on it. You can't blame them one bit.
