Why extreme weather has hit Germany and Belgium – and how it's spreading across the world



Parts of Germany and Belgium have been devastated by floods which have killed at least 126 people and destroyed entire communities.

Many of the locals told journalists they had never seen anything like it, as the continued search and rescue operations are likely to increase the total death toll.

But Germany and Belgium are not alone, with several other countries across the world enduring extreme weather events in recent months.

The Telegraph’s Rebecca Rosman, who is on the ground in Belgium, explains what exactly has happened in these countries.
