A year ago supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol. Many of them were followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory, which saw Trump as a hero who would defeat a Satan-worshipping global cabal.
A survey by the polling organisation Ipsos Mori has found that 7% of Americans still believe this conspiracy theory – despite a lack of any evidence and the fact that QAnon’s many predictions never came true.

My mother has unfortunately fell into this and it ultimately led to the divorce of my parents. Itās incredibly sad but let me shed some light. My mother is brilliant. Graduated #1 in her class in both undergrad and med-school. Her knowledge of math, chemistry, medicine, and science is actually incredible. People who fall for this are not all stupid people. I believe she was depressed, alone, and in denial of the death of multiple family members who lost their life to COVID. They pry on these type of people to give them an alternative reason to why things are the way they are or why things happened. Not wanting to believe the reality of the situation ultimately led to a spiral of absolute absurd conspiracyās. For anyone wondering this group is still strong and growing and the conspires they spout are getting more extreme. They are totally fueled by fear and I genuinely believe the people (like my mother) who are deep into this now genuinely believe the world is going to essentially end once a month or once a week, its always something new. It must be an awful way to live. Anyone can fall victim to this group and it really is sad. My heart goes out to all who have to deal with friends and families like this.
I think this is a really important piece of journalism. Extremism is destroying our society. I would really like to so the same amount of effort and production value put into investigating far-left/Marxist extremism in the US today, to provide balance and impartial reporting. It would highlight how pushing any political position to its limits, only produces negative outcomes.

This QAnon thing is not new. Those beliefs has been existing for a long time. I remember being in this sort of shit in early 2010's, while being a teenager. Back then the same shit – Satanist Cults, child sacrifices, etc. But it was more connected to Hollywood, music industry, Illuminati and reptilians. And there was always someone fighting against it. Michael Jackson, Putin… basically those who seemed to talk about it or against it, and conservative and populist politicians, like Putin, Orban, Xi Jing Ping. Ironically I had a bit of a hard time believing everything, because the Satanism thing didn't fit with my ideas, because I genuinely don't believe in Christianity or Satan, and the idea then was the one who was behind everything, was Lucifer Himself. Anyway, so who ever is this QAnon guy, he just rehashed bullshit that was already existing on the internet, and it somehow become something new, with Trump of all peoples as the poster boy. Is ridiculous. But it should be taken into serious. Those conspiracy theories in the past, remained hidden in the fringes of the internet, on blogs, YT channels and forums with few members, and even if peoples said back then that we would fight against it, in reality we all knew nothing will happen. But now, this crap has been adopted by politicians. And not that one or two far right dudes in the Parliament, who are there but everyone looks at as if they are a joke. But by an actual large party, and a large number of new politicians. This is very dangerous. Especially in a country with so many guns, all those ultra-radicalized mentally unstable idiots, become a real threat to society. If this is not suppressed fast and is let to prosper and grow, this will be the next generation of domestic terrorist, or even the cause of a civil war. Having millions of insane and radicalized peoples in the country is a serious issue… all it takes is a charismatic leader to lead them, and you will see a new fascist like movement taking roots in America.
