How Krakatoa Caused The Worst Year In History | Catastrophe | Timeline

Researching a climatic catastrophe that rocked the Earth in A.D. 535, causing two years of darkness, famine, drought and disease.

Written records from China, Italy, Palestine and many other countries suggest a huge catastrophe blighted the world in 535AD. But the cause of it has been uncertain.

Was it a comet? An asteroid? A volcano? Archaeologist David Keys reveals the latter is to blame for the Dark Ages of famine and plague that shaped the world order of today.

The search has to move on. Now to be centered on the ID of the S.O.B. that lit off that volcano. Because we all know that everything that goes bad with the world's climate is the fault of mankind. Even if it was so far back that mankind was just coming out of living in the trees. Mankind is responsible for the climate changing from a static system to a dynamic system.

I remember that year fondly

I wonder what the oral stories / histories of the Aboriginal Peoples, of what is now Australia, hold as their record of this event.

They aren't as flimsy a record as it may seem at first. Belatedly, historian researchers have listened to and compared these rich stories. They've found over a dozen of the First Nations in the north-east regions, have stories that record the rapid inundation of coastal lowlands, at the end of the Younger Dryas. That's over 11 000 yrs ago!

What would Greta Howdareyou Thunberg have said as she felt the sun disappearing on top of a layer of ash? It was all mankind's fault!

my only complaint is with the title… "How Krakatoa caused the worst year in history" proceeds to theorize it may have been a comet for half of the run time

The population was 200 million then and there was starvation. Interesting to see how we would cope with 8 billion to feed. Answer we couldn't. Make Covid-19 about as worrisome as a cloudy day.

John Bradshaw December 24, 2021 at 4:56 pm

And they say humans are the problem with climate change. Think again.

Dendrochronology and carbon dating are frequently used for reconstructing maximum paleoflood discharge stages for remote mountain channels in the Western United States, where geomorphic and tree data are well preserved.

Okay, so I don't have my glasses on, and I clicked on this thinking it said "How Karaoke Caused the Worst Year in History". I think we can all agree, that would have made for a different – and yet, no less accurate – historical video. Because karaoke sucks. I would gladly die in a volcanic eruption if it meant not having to listen to people sing karaoke.

COLD is the true enemy of humanity. Crop failure, freezing, starvation.
