Extreme Weather Events

Join Dr. Peter Carter, Paul Beckwith and Regina Valdez as they discuss the challenges we face as a result of the increasing frequency, severity, and duration of Extreme Weather Events, abbreviated EWEs.

This video was recorded on April 16th, 2021, and was first published on this channel on July 14th, 2021.

Items discussed include the following:
– Given the land and oceans continue to warm, EWEs will increase in frequency, severity, and duration.
– The toll EWEs are placing on our infrastructure and food supply.
– Both Hurricane Harvey and Katrina are discussed.
– The inevitable need for people to migrate inland from coastal cities as a result of Sea Level Rise (SLR) and EWEs.
– The reasons for the increase in EWEs is discussed.
– The EWEs we are seeing today can no longer be considered β€˜natural.’
– The fact that according to the UN, EWEs have doubled in frequency over the last 20 years
– The fact that we can no longer count on the relatively stable climate of greater than 50 years ago, β€˜The Holocene’, and that we have moved to a new age, β€˜The Anthropocene’, where the climate will be much less stable
– The need for more aggressive activist movements to spur government action such as Extinction Rebellion.
– The impact of EWEs on crop yields

Australian government opening up northern territory to fracking and allows investment for a huge gas export terminal! This is just nut's?

Thank you much for attempting to raise the level of Awareness. Excellent Work!

Today in the news – 68 massive fires burning in the west coast USA. Turkey/Germany massive evacuations from floods. Planet facing a serious issue with a pandemic. Heatwaves in CanadΓ‘ US and across Europe. Agricultural industries internationally in absolute peril. The reality… we are so so fucked. A bunch of scientists should go apologize to Guy McPherson. He was right from the beginning. You peeps are awesome! Your channel is awesome πŸ”₯πŸ’—πŸ‘ŒπŸ»love πŸ’˜πŸ’˜πŸ’˜

Human induced emissions of Green house gases? Wrong! The fact is every tangible element is always present in on or around the planet. It always exist some place some how and in some manner. Man cant make any tangible element into nothing. and man cant make something from nothing. So whatever activities man does cant add too or subtract from what always will exist. There is no person Group or Goverment that has any authority to determine what the normal or optimal climate is or should be. The entire balance of Nature theory is flawed simply not true. The only constant is change. Now you do not need to be a certified Tin foil hat wearing looonie to believe something is up with the planet. Its not Mother Nature getting revenge. Its not Gods wrath for sin. It's simply the beginning of a end of a age dramatic Shifting of the earths Magnetic Poles. This shifting will move the Equator and as the Magnetosphere reacts it is weaker and that lets solar weather and space wind into the earths atmosphere. This magnetic Pole Shift happens naturally Man cant cause it. and man cant prevent or even mitigate it. Remember that for every action there is a equal and opposite reaction. So all on mans puny activities in the final result end up Even Steven.

A depressingly large percentage of Americans "just don't get it" because they have been "dumbed down" for decades by our pathetic excuse of an Education System. Additionally, simple BLIND Human greed drives EVERYTHING. Global economic forces will stop at nothing. Perpetual growth and increased quarterly profits is the suicidal lodestone that is guiding humanity towards its own demise.

Stopping the burning of carbon is going to heat the earth even faster because of the aerosol masking effect aka global dimming

I listen to nature bats last and this is what Guy Mcpherson is explaining in some of his videos.

Can someone explain to me why some scientists look like they don’t understand global dimming? Maybe aerosol masking effect is just bs…

they just backed the year to 2040
they sure have high hopes
or maybe an underground bunker with lots of water and food.
BUT
they will still need to come out at sometime

Forest fires have took out to many trees in the northwest, it heats up the region, not a mystery it causes heat waves, hottest I've seen in my 57 years!

Steve Mace July 27, 2021 at 3:38 pm

Imo is not fossil fuels as much as trees are burnt up way to many gone.

Peter was spot on with his comment on geoengineering. They have been trying, and Paul and Peter Wadhams have been some of the victims. They were correct when they predicted a BOE in about 2015. Looking at NASA images of 2007 showed ice break up already in the Arctic. Then in 2012 we had another low point. And then in 2013 there were images of even lower ice extent, and then they started covering up the images with clouds, and since then their images have become almost laughable. There is no correlation with wind patterns and vast areas of the cryosphere are covered for months at a time.
Earth Null School was a good resource but they had a problem with representing sea ice about about 82Β°N. I wrote to him a couple years ago and since 2020 they have really had a quite accurate depiction of Arctic Sea Ice on almost an hourly basis. I trust them even more than Navy, and it's a far cry better than Polar Portal (LOL). PP has become the go to website for climate deniers.

Has anybody considered whats going to happen when a 100+ heat wave hits greenland

Scott Congdon August 2, 2021 at 5:33 am

Does anybody, anybody believe their going to even slow down burning fossil fuels. I dont

9 Trillion gallons of water is dumped on Houston – overnight – during Hurricane Harvey.

No, no no….
Everything is fine.
It's just fine.

Rrrright….

This is so, so important. I am incensed that mainstream media does not bring this out!!!! It is unconscionable to see so few people watching this!!! More than politics, this is an emergency! Is there anything we can do as a people? I already sent my disapproval that media like Washington Post do so little and need to be responsible and report the truth!!!!

Mary Roberson August 14, 2021 at 10:20 am

So force the world's governments to replant the trees in the deserts. Make them take responsibility for their part of global warming. The trees have to be replaced to offset this problem. It won't stop it but it will help slow it down.

I would like to see a session on the impacts of climate change on the Australian east coast – especially Brisbane, and what we can expect over the next decade.

western New York is getting what Paul calls extreme rains
I noticed for the first time the leaves and sticks on the forest floor being pushed all the way down the slope it was amazing to see for the first time

2040? Are you crazy? It's gonna really accelerate. Biblical floods just happened in California. Biblical floods just happened in Europe. Hope you can tread water. Everything is gonna happen again, but worse.

2025 humans go Extinct per Guy McPherson. It's happening. Right now. Wait till Arctic ice melts.

Majik 1111 November 19, 2021 at 9:28 pm

We all need to rise up against the government and the lying IPCC regime. People are in collective denial. With exponential feedback loops, civilization as we know it has 5 years tops.
