"That must be horrible for the fish.." LOL. Love it.

Yes, we can have some nasty weather, but you have to remember that the US is HUGE, and most of these weather events, while tragic are local or regional events. People could live their entire lives in Tornado Alley and never see a tornado (alerts and warnings, yes, but an actual tornado? No.) …until the one day they have a tornado plow through their house. I lived on the edge of Tornado Alley in Eastern Colorado, and never saw any until one passed just north of my house, close enough that I needed to have my roof replaced. It's just one of the wacky, weird things that keeps you on your toes while living in the US.

Animal cells die at 140ยฐF your heart stops at 105ยฐF .
Biochemistry of humans starts to malfunction at 100ยฐF , cells permanently die if kept above 105ยฐF for 3 hours.

On the fire tornado stuff, or at least fire whirls, you should look up the Peshtigo Fire, a forest fire (with a fire tornado) which happened in Peshtigo, Wisconsin in 1871 and killed between 1,500 to 2,500 people.

Yes we are currently in what I like to call Shake-N-Bake season here on the Colorado Plateau. You go from slightly above or below freezing in the early morning to baking in the mid to high 80 or low 90's. Our high altitude and clear dry sky's don't trap warm air and the extremes are great but we are use to it and those who are not tend to get flu like colds

Kristine Taulbut April 30, 2021 at 6:13 pm

I used to ignore the tornado warnings and sirens. Then we got hit. Screw me.

Kristine Taulbut April 30, 2021 at 6:14 pm

Tornado sucks up critters and drops them.

Kristine Taulbut April 30, 2021 at 6:22 pm

Guess what happens to livestock during tornados. Horror

Kristine Taulbut April 30, 2021 at 6:23 pm

Imagine how that smelled with the fish

Our weather is so damn weird. Itโ€™s whiplash. 78 one day next day 38

We just started our tornado drills here in Ohio

Jesse Daniel May 7, 2021 at 9:25 am

in Kentucky our coldest temp was -38c and our hottest temp was 46c, this year it was -8.3c and we had no electricity for 6 days and we where snowed in

I'm in Maryland, and there was a thunderstorm the other day, like tornado weather and then the next day it was 90ยฐF ๐Ÿ˜“ lookin outside rn it's totally gonna rain

The Manager May 7, 2021 at 7:12 pm

My mercan brain instantly though "Oh wow! How is his hottest tempature 20 degrees fa- wait"

AdHocFuture May 7, 2021 at 10:31 pm

In 1974, I was in my freshman year of High School, an elementary school near when I lived, White Hall, was destroyed by one of those tornadoes. It was Kentucky, part of the Ohio river drainage area.

AdHocFuture May 7, 2021 at 10:33 pm

Oh hell. I just had a snarky thought. The real reason American's are overweight is because we either do not want to be swept away, or swept upwards, or we need to float. It's a survival thing.

5/6th grade I believe, a tornado passed my school and the school genuinely didn't care and we continued math class ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

The funniest thing about 1816 is that an alternative name for it is actually "eighteen-hundred-and-froze-to-death." The eruption of Tambora is thought to be the most powerful volcanic eruption in human history, as well.

I live in northern Vermont. It gets to -40F in the winter and in the 90s in the summer.

The uk proclaims to have the most tornadoes per capita. More than the US. But few of them go beyond F1 and F2. Basically tornadoes in the us are concentrated in one spot of a massive country so we just have less per capita.

ร† June 25, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Oh you think thats bad? There was Ef5 El Reno Tornado that occurred in 2013 in Oklahoma with 300 mph winds and a width of 2.6 miles. 8 people lost their lives (including 4 storm chasers) and 151 people had injuries. Many people were caught up in its unexpected path.

Belky Hernandez June 26, 2021 at 9:14 pm

What people call rain up north is what we call sprinkle or drizzle in the south.

We it actually rains hard down here you aren't going to be anywhere outside if you can help it. Not only is the rain harsh but there might be lighting, down power lines, sink holes you can't see, debris flying around. Just wait it out.

Welcome to US, pick your top 3 natural disasters and we will assign you a place to live.

Stacy Cogan June 29, 2021 at 2:08 am

Hi yes the us has huge temp difference. I'm in the Adirondacks in NY. We usually have temperature below 30 ferri height until may. But today it was 90!

Joy Kind June 29, 2021 at 3:35 am

In Texas, I've been in shorts in the pool with sunny weather, then saw it drop over 50 degrees that same day, with winds and darkness, lightning thunder and hail!!!! But, it's still a great place to live. And the weather is pretty good most of the time. In the summer, we either keep wet at the pool, or keep the AC cranked up.

Anthony Robinson July 15, 2021 at 6:14 pm

The first thing to remember that while we get WET SNOW most of the snowfall in the US is DRY SNOW so its not as cold. My first visit to the Mid West near Chicago we had 2 meters of snow overnight but the temp was only 5C

Anthony Robinson July 15, 2021 at 6:16 pm

My next visit was to Florida over Christmas a few years after in 2002 when I spent Christmas Day at the beach in 25C temperatures and YES I did get sunburnt!!

Ms Darby July 25, 2021 at 10:59 pm

The 2nd year I lived in Alaska we had a 3 month spell that it was between -20 and -50 Fahrenheit. I live in southwest Alaska. It gets much colder up north.

Jeff Richards July 29, 2021 at 12:14 am

I live in west Virginia in U.S. our weather fluctuates so bad its not funny. The mountains will effect the weather some but we are such a humid state. Feels like your breathing through a hot wet rag when out in 80 degree weather.

-20F is nothing, I live in South Dakota and we hit that easy every year, try -50F. We don't hit -50F every year but about every 5 years.

That 1974 Ohio Tornado hit Xenia, Ohio. (Green County) My sister lived there when that F5 hit there in 74. They survived and her and her family still live in the area. Theyโ€™ve had 3 tornadoes in my life time. Thankfully the other 2 werenโ€™t as big as the 74 one. I live about an hr from there and I will never live in that area. That whole county gets hits often. The Indians called it the land of the devil winds. In 2019 that county and Montgomery county, the county over, got hit with F3 and F4โ€™s. My county also had tornadoes that night. In all we had 21 tornadoes in Ohio in 1 single night!! 19 a yr is the average. 3 small ones came within a few streets from me in my country. No real damage here. None hit Xenia that night but Beavercreek Ohio, the town before Xenia, got hit hard. You know Green county is bad when they have public tornado shelter location signs around town.
