I went to school with a Cypriot lad who had escaped from Famagusta. Apparently, there are brand new cars still sitting in dealer showrooms from 1974, zero miles on the clock, covered in a thick layer of dust.
I was due to visit Pripyat, Chernobyl and the 'DUGA' radar site this summer, but Putin put paid to that idea!

I have great respect for the Chinese, their culture, planning, and ingenuity. Labeling these cities as ghost cities, etc. is like criticizing an artist's painting before it is finished. These are beautiful places and the logic behind their development is sound. The utilization of education and subsequent changes is just the beginning of what is to come.
