People who surf those giant waves in portugal can only do it because they get pulled at high speed by a jet ski to get them started.. or else it would be humanly impossible and deadly.
The ocean can be very dangerous
The height of waves add if they pass the same location at the same time. A rogue wave can hit anywhere, because statistically eventually several waves will add up on that location. A rogue wave hit a South Korean beach in the 1990s that was 30 to 40 feet higher than expected, simply by a group of waves all hitting at one time and washing up the beach. Rogue waves can hit you if you are walking on rocks by the ocean, or walking along a lower cliff by the ocean.

I was on a cruise ship back in 2006 called the Poseidon. We were hit by a rogue wave at least 100' tall. I believe it was caused by a landslide but rogue waves are very unpredictable . We were capsized and many died but fortunately my wife was very large and I hung on to her as my life depended on it. Lucky we were rescued and the settlement along with my late wife's life insurance, I was able to follow my dreams and become one of the best wood widdlers on the South Pacific. Some of my works went on to gross tens of thousands . Guess sometimes during a time of disappear, just stop and think that one day , this may lead you to your dreams.

I knew you would put up Nazare, Portugal as having "rogue" waves, which is stupid because the big waves there aren't abnormal. In winter, the waves off North Beach at Nazare average about 50 feet, all because of the North Canyon under the water, which is a natural big wave generator.

I watched some other YouTube video supposedly about rogue waves or large waves and it was so disappointing. This one is great and the announcer is far less robotic sounding than most and doesn’t put in a lot of filler verbiage either.
